Momoa plays the turn nicely when Aquaman realizes that he may not be able to beat his adversary, and he handles his final ascension well. Most of all, Momoa is a fun presence his not-so-bright, biker-dude Aquaman and Ezra Miller's squirrelly Flash are definitely the two most surprisingly enjoyable takes on heroes so far in the DCEU. Heard is appealing as Mera, especially in a sequence in which she discovers some of the little pleasures of the surface world. Kidman brings unusual emotional depth to her brief appearance she has chemistry with Morrison in a rare superhero-parent backstory that works. Much of the credit for Aquaman's success goes to the casting. It centers on a quest that hops continents and new (undersea) worlds it introduces a mythology it culminates in a satisfying battle. And this is the first of these attempted epics that actually feels like an epic. James Wan's direction is quicker and lighter on its feet than infamously dour movies like Batman v Superman. Aquaman isn't great, but it's definitely more fun and engaging than the non- Wonder Woman entries so far. Like Wonder Woman, this adventure marks a move in the right direction for the Justice League/DC Extended Universe. I am looking forward to the sequel and hope that we get at least one.MerMan! In there the next time around. I was not a fan of the depiction of Manta and found him as a villain to be a bit slap dash.and considering the current political climate around pirates off the coast of Somalia a bit too painful to be fantasy. Dafoe once again da-fying modern convention and showing us he can act well in just about anything. Hurray and huzzah for James Wan’s direction in having everyone just speak underwater, no magic bubble, no air pockets.just talking.if we’re going to believe there’s an Atlantis, then we’re going to believe that they can talk to each other underwater. Nicole Kidman kills it with her fight scenes and with her acting. Bravo embracing the origin story that has smatterings of Roan Inish. His charm and charisma not to mention his physicality are very well suited for a cheeky superhero. No surprise that Jason Momoa pulls this off. For those that are DC true who want a film that reveals Wonder Woman was not a one off, but also those that are DC blue and want any opportunity to make fun of a film just for not being MCU. There has been a lot of anticipation for Aquaman.
